Summary

Stride AI is an iOS fitness app. In plain language, here is what we collect and why:

  • Account & sign-in. If you create an account, we collect information from Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In (such as email and, when provided, your name) so you can log in and we can provide the service.
  • Onboarding & training. We collect goals, preferences, and health-related information you choose to provide so we can personalize your running program.
  • Runs & sensors. During active runs only, we collect precise GPS, motion/fitness data, and—if you allow—heart rate and related data to record workouts and show pace, route, and performance.
  • Subscriptions. Payments go through Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and receipts—we do not receive your full payment card details.
  • AI training plans. We send anonymized fitness profile and performance summaries to OpenAI to generate plans. We do not send your name, email, location, or raw health data to OpenAI.
  • What we do not do. We do not sell your personal information, use it for third-party advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising. We do not collect location in the background outside of an active run.

Introduction & scope

Stride AI (“Stride AI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides an AI-powered personal running coach for iOS. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Stride AI mobile application (the “App”) and when you visit our website at getstrideai.com (the “Site”). The App is intended for adults 18 years of age or older. The App is available on iOS only; there is no Android or web version of the App.

By using the App or Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App or Site.

Information we collect

Information you provide

Account creation. To use the App, you must create an account. We support Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In. Depending on your choices and the provider, we may receive:

  • Your name (optional; you may hide it with Apple Sign-In)
  • Your email address (which may be a private relay email from Apple)
  • A unique user identifier from the authentication provider

Onboarding and profile. You may provide information such as:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Running goal (for example, general fitness, 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon)
  • Race date and target finish time, if applicable
  • Current fitness level (self-reported)
  • 5K time (self-reported, optional)
  • Preferred training days per week
  • Injury history and health considerations (free-form text you choose to enter)
  • Burnout or overtraining history (yes/no)

Information collected automatically during use

Location (GPS). We collect precise location during active runs only (foreground use). We use this to calculate distance, pace, route, and elevation. We do not track your location in the background outside of an active run session.

Apple Health (HealthKit). With your permission, we may read heart rate from HealthKit during runs and write workout data to HealthKit after runs. HealthKit data is governed by Apple’s policies and your device settings.

Motion and fitness. During active runs, we may collect motion and fitness data such as step count and cadence using Core Motion and similar APIs.

Run records. We store information about each run, which may include distance, duration, pace splits, average pace, calories burned, route coordinates (GPS path), heart rate where available, date and time, and session type (for example, easy run, intervals, tempo, long run).

Training and progress. We store AI-generated training program data, streaks, consistency metrics, and weekly summaries.

Device information. We may collect device-related information such as iOS version and device model for reliability, diagnostics, crash reporting, and support.

What we do not collect

  • We do not collect location data outside of active runs.
  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • We do not use your information for cross-app advertising or to build advertising profiles. Our app is not configured for cross-app tracking for advertising purposes.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the App and our services
  • Create and maintain your account and authenticate you
  • Generate and adapt personalized training plans and coaching experiences
  • Record and display run history, progress, and performance analytics
  • Process subscriptions and verify entitlements (including through Apple and RevenueCat)
  • Provide real-time voice coaching and in-run features that depend on location and sensor data during active runs
  • Maintain the security and integrity of our systems, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with law
  • Communicate with you about the service when appropriate

Sharing & third parties

We share information with service providers who help us operate the App, subject to appropriate safeguards and contractual terms. We do not sell your personal information.

Supabase

We use Supabase for hosted PostgreSQL database services and authentication infrastructure. Supabase stores user profiles, run records, and training data. Our data is hosted in the United States (us-east-1).

Apple Sign-In & Google Sign-In

Authentication is handled by Apple and Google. Their collection and use of information are described in their respective privacy policies.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat for subscription management. RevenueCat receives purchase receipts and subscription status from Apple. RevenueCat does not receive your health data or GPS location data for advertising purposes as part of our integration.

Apple In-App Purchase

All payments are processed through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Apple’s privacy policy applies to payment processing.

Legal and safety

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Stride AI, our users, or others.

AI & OpenAI

We use OpenAI’s API to generate personalized training plans. When generating a plan, we may send OpenAI:

  • An anonymized fitness profile (for example, age range or age, goal, fitness level, and training history in aggregated form)
  • Recent training performance data in summarized or aggregated form

We do not send OpenAI your name, email address, precise location data, GPS routes, or raw HealthKit data. Training plan generation is designed to use anonymized or minimized fitness inputs. OpenAI’s handling of data is subject to OpenAI’s policies for API customers, which may change from time to time.

Storage & security

Cloud storage. User account data and app data are stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) in the United States. HealthKit data remains under Apple’s control on your device according to your permissions; we access permitted HealthKit data only as described in this policy.

Run and route data. Location and run records associated with your account are stored in our database as needed to provide the service.

Security measures. We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest where supported by our infrastructure providers. We use Supabase row-level security (RLS) so that users can access only their own data in accordance with our configuration.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We continuously work to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights (including U.S.)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. For example, if you are a resident of California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), may provide you with certain rights, which can include:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • The right to request deletion of personal information we hold
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information, where applicable
  • The right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising—Stride AI does not sell your personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA
  • The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising privacy rights

Other U.S. states may provide similar rights. To exercise rights that may apply to you, or to ask a question, contact us at contact@getstrideai.com. We may need to verify your request before responding.

Account deletion. You may permanently delete your account from within the App (Settings → Delete Account). Deleting your account is intended to remove your associated data from our servers, subject to limited exceptions such as data we must retain for legal compliance or legitimate business purposes (for example, aggregated or de-identified data, or backups for a limited period).

Children’s privacy

The App is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where higher age thresholds apply in certain jurisdictions). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at contact@getstrideai.com and we will take steps to delete that information where required by law.

International users

If you access the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be processed and stored in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy in the App and/or on the Site and update the “Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by law (which may include in-app notice or email, where appropriate). Your continued use of the App after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy, except where prohibited by law.
